The Angelic Harbinger
Xaria Veronica Linette
The Angel’s Renewal
Do you want to know…
...what I used to dream of?
I saw the flames of Hell.
I heard the cries of dying mercy.
I heard the laughter of the wicked.
I saw the Devil in the white suit.
I saw his Right Hand, his fallen angel.
I felt the shockwave of an explosion that destroyed my home.
No…
Not the home I live in now.
The original house in Malibu. It was two years ago.
August 11th, 2019.
Did you know it was on the news?
The reporters were informed by the police that it was a gas leak.
In reality…?
It was the work of Sathanas and Lord Apollyon.
It was a trap meant to kill us.
The Children of Nephilim.
Even if it meant my little angels died with us.
Christian.
Jacques.
Pénélope.
Pure.
Innocent.
Children.
Valdemar and Anthony would have murdered them in cold blood.
If it wasn’t for Michael, Zachary, and Cronos...
I’ve never forgotten. Even now.
January 16th, 2020 was a day that changed the lives of so many people.
But even after all this time…
I will never forget.
I am still the Harbinger.
I am still the Rainbow Angel.
The Angelic Harbinger.
And soon? Very soon…?
They will remember forever.
~*~*~* Fragment of Memories *~*~*~
“Mommy?”
“Hmm?”
Inside the master bedroom on the third floor, a little girl in an old Martin Karloff: Monster Messiah graphic tee ran up to her mother’s side. It was big enough to be a dress, not a shirt. With her little hands, she brought over the flower-decorated white step-stool in front of the window. She stepped onto it with her tiny bare feet and looked outside alongside her mother. The view of the pacific ocean and the full moon was divine.
“Where are you going?”
Xaria Linette raised an eyebrow at the random question. She offered her daughter a gentle smile. “I’m not going anywhere, sweetie.”
“But you’re gonna go somewhere,” Pénélope Linette insisted. She wanted the correct answer. “Christian and Jacques told me you’re, ah... ress-a-ling again?”
Oh, no wonder! It seemed her twin boys were eavesdropping. Xaria couldn’t help but giggle. “Oui. I am going to wrestle for a company called Pro Wrestling Excellence.”
“Wow!” Penny was in awe of the company’s name. She looked up to her mother and smiled. “That’s perfect ‘cause you’re excellent, mommy!”
“Merci, mon petit ange,” Xaria smiled brightly and lowered herself onto one knee. Her eyes never left her daughter’s. “Do you know what that means?”
“Um… I’unno.”
Penny was only six years old. She had just started first grade on the 16th of August. She was the youngest of the Linette family and was, without a doubt, daddy’s little girl.
Xaria hoped this would not break her little heart.
“It means… that I’m not always going to be home anymore. Sometimes… I will be somewhere else in the world.”
Her daughter tilted her head one way, then the other way. “You’re gonna go far away?”
“Sometimes,” Xaria nodded. From her kneeled position, Penny was taller than her. It was a way to give her little girl comfort, knowing she was not overshadowed.
It made Penny feel better. “But you’ll be on TV, so I’ll still see you.” She gave her a big smile.
“That’s right, Penny,” Xaria smiled sweetly. “You’ll get to watch me perform again.”
“Per… form!” Penny bounced a little, but she remained steady on the step-stool.
She didn’t know how to pronounce the word “wrestling”, but she knew what it was.
Penny had seen her father do it. She’d seen her mother do it. She’d seen her guardian angel do it. She’d watched her older brothers pretend to do it. She’d even fly off the furniture to try and copy what her parents and guardian angel were doing!
Even if her guardian angel didn’t have his wings anymore.
He was still able to protect her.
Xaria reached out and gently took her daughter’s hands in hers. “You and your brothers can watch me on TV with Mikey and Sara, Daddy and Mari, or Uncle Q and Auntie Ari.”
“Ohhh, maybe we can all watch you perform, Mommy. Like a party!” Penny giggled.
“You’ll have to ask everybody first,” Xaria lightly squeezed her hands. “But the TV show will be on Monday nights, so if it’s too late, you’ll have to wait until the next day.”
“Because of school!” Penny puffed her cheeks.
How cute!
“Oui. School is very important, mon petit ange. Speaking of…” Xaria glanced up to the Eiffel Tower-designed clock on the nightstand. “...it is bedtime for you.”
“Awww, but I wanna stay up until Mikey is home!” Penny let out with a pout.
“Mikey is working late, Penny,” Xaria shook her head a little.
‘Oh, Michael… mon Amour…’
She slowly rose up on her feet and lovingly scooped her daughter up into her arms. She began to make her way out of the master bedroom and just a short way down the hall towards an open door. Through the doorway was a colorful Disney-themed child’s bedroom: Penny’s, of course. Xaria gently set her down on her big girl bed.
“When he gets home, he’ll come in and kiss you goodnight like always,” Xaria reassured with a sweet smile.
“Okay…” Penny was still a little upset, but she understood. She just loved Mikey so much!
“Did you brush your teeth?” Xaria asked.
“Uh-huh!”
“Breath check.”
When Xaria leaned in, Penny let out a small puff of her breath. “Minty. Très bon! Now… you’re not exactly in your pajamas.”
At this, Penny giggled. It was clear in her expressions that she loved the shirt she was wearing. Xaria couldn’t help but smile. “I’ll allow it.”
“I picked out my clothes for tomorrow, Mommy!” Penny excitedly pointed them out.
Xaria took a closer look at her selection and nodded. “Oui. Très bon. Would you like a bedtime story, mon petit ange?”
“Oui s'il vous plaît!” Penny wiggled with joy and adjusted herself under the Princess Merida blanket. She laid her head back against the Queen Elsa and Princess Anna pillows and waited patiently.
With a loving smile, Xaria retrieved one of her daughter’s books from the pink-and-white bookshelf and took a seat on the edge of the bed. “Can you please read the cover, Penny?”
“Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus!”
Fontaine Video Productions presents…
“Bonjour.”
The Linette Residence
August 26th, 2021
10:45pm PST
“January 2007…”
Before the camera’s sight, Xaria took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
XARIA LINETTE: “That was when my first adventure in professional wrestling began. Legacy Wrestling Alliance was where I made my debut in the industry.”
Behind her is the spacious backyard of her house in Malibu. However, she’s seated upon a red cushioned lounge chair with her legs resting on the red ottoman. The backyard’s light illuminated the entire outdoor patio. She’s wearing a purple dress shirt, two of the buttons at the top unbuttoned to reveal her golden Eiffel Tower necklace, a black knee-level skirt with a slit on the right side, and a pair of purple and gold high heels. As always, her hair and makeup were on-point.
Just when she was about to continue, a familiar voice was heard behind the camera.
“Uh, Aunt Xaria… you’re not going to watch the videos first?”
She looked beyond the camera with a tilt of her head.
XARIA LINETTE: “Excusez-moi? What videos, Remi?”
No wonder the voice was familiar. The camera’s turned to reveal the young man behind the camera, Rémiel Fontaine. The wrestling industry hasn’t seen him in quite some time! Unlike his aunt, he’s dressed casually this evening. He pushed his glasses up with a finger and cleared his throat.
REMI FONTAINE: “The promotional videos from your fellow wrestlers. You know, Chelsea, Ross, Zoey, TJ, Kayla…”
XARIA LINETTE: “Have you seen them?”
REMI FONTAINE: “Well, yeah. As always, Kayla is--”
XARIA LINETTE: “Shhh.”
The young man visibly blinked. He was… being hushed by his aunt? He focused the camera back towards her without missing a beat. She lowered her right index finger from in front of her lips and rested her hands on her laps.
XARIA LINETTE: “I’m not going to watch them.”
REMI FONTAINE: “N-no?”
XARIA LINETTE: “Non.”
REMI FONTAINE: “Uh… may I ask why?”
XARIA LINETTE: “Because I don’t want to. Not until we’re finished recording and uploading our own video. If I were to watch their videos first and respond accordingly, it would be completely unfair. I would have extra ammunition to shoot against them. That’s cheating, mon Neveu.”
The camera was turned back towards the Rebel Angel who raised an eyebrow. He looked a little dumbfounded at his aunt’s explanation.
REMI FONTAINE: “I… guess? Okay, Aunt Xaria. Your promo, your rules. You’re the expert.”
XARIA LINETTE: “Oui. Now then…”
He turned the camera back towards her. She smiled politely and crossed her right leg over her left. Naturally, the slit revealed some of her thigh.
XARIA LINETTE: “In LWA, I was a twenty-year-old bubbly, optimistic, and very spirited rookie. I was trained by Sensei Alan Lockhart in Charlotte, North Carolina. He taught me advanced martial arts and taekwondo. I knew very little of actual wrestling back then… at least until one of the co-owners of LWA, the Guardian Angel Kyle Cross, took me under his wing. That was when I learned to fly. It was almost second nature to me.
A month after joining LWA, I became the Crossfire Division Champion, a division meant for weaponry and violence. Back then, I didn’t like to use weapons. I wasn’t a violent person; I was more of a pacifist. I can win without using a weapon. It was unheard of in the division. Then one night, I was viciously attacked by one of my challengers -- with a weapon. While I was recovering in the medical office, Kyle sat down with me and we talked. He told me… ‘Sometimes you don’t have a choice but to use a weapon. Sometimes you have to be a little violent. But you don’t have to do it with ill intentions. You can use a weapon to protect people.’
One week later, I took a simple steel chair and I covered it with colorful glitter and rainbow stickers. I went down to the ring with that chair…”
Raising her left hand, she gestured to something that was off-screen. Remi turned the camera in that direction and revealed the very same glitter-painted, sticker-covered steel chair from her rookie days in LWA. After all this time, Xaria has kept it.
XARIA LINETTE: “...and I protected my friend James Dean.”
REMI FONTAINE: “I remember that show! It was awesome to see you step up as the new Guardian Angel!”
She smiled warmly at her oldest nephew and nodded.
XARIA LINETTE: “Eventually, I lost the Crossfire Division Championship. For the life of me, I can’t remember who defeated me… Regardless, some time later was the pay-per-view known as Lethal Lottery. Everyone was randomly placed in matches depending on the quickness of every wrestler’s request. I was lucky enough to be in a fatal four-way ladder match for the Undisputed World Championship. The Champion was “Absolutely” Scott Free, the leader of Better Than You. I was the leader of the Trifecta Angels. It was a grueling match and I would have won… if it wasn’t for one of my friends’ betrayal.
I was devastated. I hadn’t felt such emotional pain in a long time, not since the day I lost my mother, Olivia. After talking to James and Hamza Abdul-Aziz, I knew what I had to do. I had to try again; I couldn’t let Scott and Donnie keep me down! Then Kyle announced the over-the-top-rope elimination battle royal for the LWA Undisputed World Championship and the entire roster was in it.”
Remi must be grinning behind the camera because Xaria chuckled softly.
XARIA LINETTE: “I was the last wrestler standing. I defeated everyone to become the new Undisputed World Champion. Finally, I achieved what so many thought was ‘impossible’. A young, schizophrenic, female rookie was the best in LWA…”
Then slowly, a frown formed on her lips and she lowered her head.
XARIA LINETTE: “...Unfortunately, three weeks later -- a week before my very-first world championship defense, the company shut down. Kyle closed the doors and I never got to know if I could be a successful world champion.”
Shaking her head, she focused back on the camera, her eyes filled with determination.
XARIA LINETTE: “Do you understand now? No matter when it happens, no matter where it happens, I will become the PWE Excellence Champion. Insofar as the first Victory goes, I have the experience in over-the-top-rope eliminations.
Kayla Richards, Lachlan Kane, Nathaniel Cartwright, Ciela Cruz, and Ashley Whitmore? I respect each and every one of you, but do you have the experience that I do? Do you have what it really takes to win?
Show me. I want each and every wrestler on the PWE roster to show me if you really do.
Otherwise. . .”
With a smile and a wink, the Angelic Harbinger said no more as the camera feed cut.
I am the Harbinger.
I am the Rainbow Angel.
The Angelic Harbinger.
And soon? Very soon…?
They will remember forever.
